System Lifeguard 2 can help you optimize the way you use your hard disk space. Old Files usually are files that haven't been used for a long time. It is very likely that this data is just wasting your disc space.

Files are called Old Files because your computer has not accessed them for a predefined amount of time. It might be that they are now obsolete.

To use this function follow the steps described below:

Step 1

Choose Clean My Computer and then Click Old Files.

  • Click Add a New Path button to add a new path for System LifeGuard 2 to scan.

  • Click Delete Path button to remove a certain path from the list

  • Click Add All Local Drives to add to the list all the local drives of your computer

  • Click Clear All Paths to clear the entire list of paths/drives.

Click Next button and System LifeGuard 2 will start scanning the selected paths/drives for old files.

Step 2

Select the amount of time (specified in days, weeks, months, years).

E.g. If you set the time to 5 Years, all the files that are older then 5 years will be listed as old files.

After the scanning process is done System LifeGuard will display a list of the old files found on your computer.

  • Click Select All button to select all the files from the list (in order to clean all these files).
  • Click Unselect All button to unselect all the files from the list.
  • Click Filter to filter the files from the list on several criteria: by name, by date, by size or/and by security level.
  • Click Clear Filter to remove the filter that has been applied to the list.
  • After selecting the files to clean click Clean All Selected button and then choose what to do with the selected files:

    • Delete Files - the selected files will be deleted from your computer.

    • Shred Files - the selected files will be permanently removed from your computer and there will be now way to recover them.

  • Click Backup All Selected to backup the selected files that you are going to delete. You will be taken to Backup Files page

  • Click Organize To button if you want to organize the selected files to a certain folder.
